150 Liters or Bust & Wine Pop-Up Part Deux
Meanwhile back in the cellar my two amphora and steel tank, which combined are about 150 liters, are slowly finishing fermentation. More precisely, I had samples analyzed at the lab on 10 November:

I wanted to send this newsletter out several weeks ago to tell you all about the harvest. But I didn’t. I couldn’t, because the harvest only finished on 28 September. Once again Mother Nature had other plans.

Despite a very dry beginning of the year, in May the buds bursted open and are thriving in both the Kremsleithen and Weinzierlberg vineyards. I am pleasantly surprised by the number of inflorescence, or grape flowers, from the three-year old sémillion and chenin vines. They should produce 2-3x more grape clusters this year, assuming a successful flowering, where the caps fall off leading to pollination.
