Vineyard Expansion and Paris Pop-Up Part Deux
This past February from 1 to 21, 49 wineries, from large cooperatives, including Domäne Wachau to boutique wineries, such as Weinhof Locknbauer in Styria, took part in the second edition of the pop-up in Paris. Once again, we were open every evening from 6 p.m. to midnight, and both wine experts and consumers, had the opportunity to taste 63 different wines. Similar to last year, only tips were requested, but this time we had a VAT number making it possible for anyone to purchase bottles.

Despite a very dry beginning of the year, in May the buds bursted open and are thriving in both the Kremsleithen and Weinzierlberg vineyards. I am pleasantly surprised by the number of inflorescence, or grape flowers, from the three-year old sémillion and chenin vines. They should produce 2-3x more grape clusters this year, assuming a successful flowering, where the caps fall off leading to pollination.
Le Austrian Wine Pop-Up is Open for Pouring
I’m sending the first newsletter of 2025 as I return from a 2,800 km (1,700 miles) road-trip from Vienna to Paris back to Vienna after dropping off 500 bottles of Austrian wine.
First Tasting Notes & Pop-Up Wine Bar
To rectify this atrocity and to launch my first vintage, from 1-28 February 2025 Kapitel Zwei Wine will host a pop-up wine bar in the heart of Paris. Joining us will be 27 other Austrian wineries where we will pour some of the best wines from the country, including red, white, rose, orange and pet nat.
